Thursday 29th June
Today was the day. 6hrs of driving. We left Lindsey’s and headed North West towards the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not much to note on the drive other than some crazy looking trucks

We cracked out 3hrs of driving before taking a detour to the Battle of Musgrove Mill State Historic Site. There was a short British trail of 2 miles through the woods that we enjoyed. We tried our mosquito repellent bands and only Daddy got bitten!

We saw some amazing wildlife: birds, butterflies, spiders and bugs of all different shapes, sizes and colours! This bird was just hanging at eye level, awaiting the return of its mother. The calm and silence of the forest was infectious.

The highlight was the visit to the Information Station where a poor girl didn’t know what hit her. Two crazy English boys asking a million questions on a Thursday afternoon. The boys loved the history and holding the historic guns!

The lady took the boys outside and found the local bats that were nesting in the roof.

We cracked out another 3hrs of driving which included 45mins of English traffic jams! We saw entire roads and highways being rebuilt and subsequent exits being missed! But we made it 4,085 feet in the clouds – amazing!

Kate made it through the photo without being attacked by hornets and mosquitoes

We made it in time for our dinner reservation at the restaurant, which honestly had the best view we have ever seen from a window. Wow!

Elliott asked the waiter if they did a cheeseburger, as he could only see a hamburger on the menu and it stumped him! The waiter couldn’t get enough of Elliott and laughed with us throughout the service. Elliott also asked if there was a breakfast room-service option available.

Once we finished dinner we walked to the amazing deck area that provided even better views.
