Michigan Lego Day – 2nd Aug

Another lovely day today in Michigan, we took the kiddos to Lego Discovery Centre!

Daddy decided to lose his wallet which was a great start to the day! Turned out it had fallen out into a pile of dirty washing. There is nothing like the feeling when you lose your wallet or phone. There is another great feeling and wave of relief when you find it again!

Once we had solved the wallet issue we were off to the Lego Centre, we did need to make a quick stop at a hardware centre for some chicken coop wire. Daddy took care of the kiddos while Trevor went shopping.

Lots of this with Nate.

Giant chickens

Lots of expensive lawn mowers to look at. Who needs to spend $20,000 on a lawnmower?

Hidden double length chainsaws.

Next stop the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. The largest mall or shopping centre in Michigan, it is mind boggling how big this place is. It’s 1.3 million sq ft and feels bigger than Heathrow airport. It had a Peppa Pig world, Legoworld and Friends Experience along with cinemas, restaurants and shopping.

The cinema had a legacy faded poster from the film MegaMind which made it look even more Stranger Things esq!

Military hiring seemed very popular here, the $50k cash bonus was an interesting line to include.

The Lego Discovery centre was right up the boys street. Lego rides, exhibits and lots of interactive parts to build your own Lego.

Nate showing off one of his creations. This was in the build a car and test how fast it was room. It might not have been the fastest but it was the best to look at.

Elliott with the resident Lego police man.

The boys building a rollercoaster in the “build a float” room. You could literally leave these two here all day and they would be happy.

The layout of the centre was well designed with all the interactive areas coming off the centre. That meant we could see all the possible places they wanted to hide.

Lego 4D movie

The shopping centre had some cool historic newspapers from the Detroit News circa 1930s

We headed out via the shop which had a lot of tempting Lego. The $400 Ninajo set was of interest to the boys! We settled on few smaller sets from Marvel, Harry Potter and Disney.

Back playing more Lego

We headed back and shot down to the Lake to watch Stacey smash a triathlon!

Random cranes that were hassling everyone!

We got back super late and everyone was into the shower and bed quickly. Tomorrow we have haircuts and a relaxing afternoon at the lake.
