Walt Disney World – 10th August

Thursday 10th August

Today was a non-park day, we headed to Disneys Typhoon Lagoon! Water park fun and games for all the family. The Lagoon doesn’t open until 10:00 so we indulged in a well deserved sleep.

After the cereal + cup incident from yesterday we decided to head to the restaurant for a tasty breakfast. Mummies Facebook groups mentioned Mickeys Waffles as a must have. The boys loved the waffles, as you can see.

Only other thing to note, was the elderly disabled women who walked past our table with her stroller. She didn’t see the sign that read “Not in use” and sat backwards onto a bench seat that had no cushion! Very luckily she didn’t injury herself on the wooden frame. Daddy lifted her back out of the wooden hole and went to find a manager.

The manager looked shocked, but after talking to the lady came back and said “She’s fine” – nothing about maybe making the area safer or putting up a larger sign. We were a bit disappointed by his reaction.

We headed for our bus ride queue, on the way we met a lovely lady who let the boys fight with lightsabers! She even got in on the act and played with them.

We got to the Lagoon and took a look around the resort. We were told that flip flops should be fine, but water shoes would be even better. We decided to try flip flops and hide in the shade where necessary.

Not many photos for the blog today as phones either needed to be in a waterproof bag ($10) The heat! Well, today was a lot better due to the amount of cloud. We had frequent breaks from the sunshine, we had a few rumbles of thunder but still no rain!

The lazy river was a massive win! The river snakes around the entire park, so the lazy ride is a long one. The random waterfalls and sprays are slightly annoying, but cruising along listening to the Beach Boys was a great moment.

We rode the family raft ride, Nate kept saying “I’m going to the top then getting off” the ride had a mechanic lift, but everyone needed to be in the raft. Basically get in the raft, get hoisted into the air by a giant escalator. Unfortunately for Nate there was no getting off! Elliott gave the ride a 2/10 and Nate didn’t like the dark parts but liked the fast parts. Semi win.

Nate ended up riding the mini kids raft 8x times in a row. By the 6/7 time, Daddy and Nate had a system where Nate just pointed at the raft and expected Daddy to bring it round to the start.

Turns out the reason for the water shoes was due to the floor temperature! The stone floor in the non water areas (i.e lockers and restaurants) was so hot, we thought we burnt our feet. Daddy seemed to have the most sensitive feet, walking to the restaurant was an interesting affair.

Random toddler didn’t want Nate playing next to him, decided to flick water at Nate. This progressed to getting a plastic shovel and throwing water at Nate. Karma comes into play. When the toddler got even more confident and tried to pour a bucket of water over Nate, the bucket tipped all over the poor toddlers head! Daddy was chuckling away.

There seem to be even more English people here (Florida schools went back today) we have seen Manchester United shirts, Chelsea shirts and heard lots of northern accents! One American lady simply put it “Oh my god, why is everyone here British!”

Tomorrow we are hitting Animal Kingdom straight in the maracas. We are rope dropping (earlier for Animal Kingdom due to the animals) we are aiming to get the bus at 6:45 – wish us luck!
