Friday 18th August

We had a chilled morning, spending time at the pool, this is the beauty of coming for three weeks. If we decide to have a day or half day at the pool we can. We spent half a day at the pool, then attempted to do a very Katy Manning thing, two parks in one day!

The spanner that was thrown into our plans was something that no one can control – the weather! We were about to leave the pool to grab some lunch when the lifeguards closed the pool down. Lighting is in the area, everybody out.

That wasn’t a huge problem, as we were about to grab lunch then head to the parks for 3/4pm. What is a big problem is the Skyliner not running! If there is lighting in the area the last place you want to be is in a giant metal box shooting along more metal cables.

We took the bus! In the rain to EPCOT it’s only when you have the luxury of the Skyliner you realise how slow and painful the bus is. We got to EPCOT as it stopped raining, we tried on our budget rain mack’s from Amazon and all agreed they were awful.

We headed for Elliotts favourite Spaceship Earth for the fourth ride. He can’t get enough of the ride and kept asking questions throughout the ride. He is one of a kind!

Mummy who is the Guardians of the Galaxy’s biggest fan, went for her second ride. She knew the tricks and got herself to a better seat. Mummy went for the hands up pose, which is great unless you are the person behind!

The boys played some more virtual hockey!

Once Mummy had finished we all went on Soarin a giant 3D simulator where you tour various places around the world. Another one that Elliott loved and Nate wasn’t too happy about. It seems that the volume of the rides is too much for them, as they kept putting their hands over their ears.

Daddy got to ride Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time. The snaked queues were peaking due to the rain, but Lighting Lane got Daddy to the front in under 10mins.

The boys did some outdoor place park action!

There was a definite strategy to getting to the front of the queue/ride which Mummy had worked out. On Daddy’s ride a gay couple were literally sprinting between the holding rooms and getting in front of other people. Lots of comments and a bad vibe going down, everyone gets on the ride chill out. But then, if you have been queuing for 65mins you’ve probably had enough.

Overall, the ride was fun and not as crazy as expected. The technology is first class and everything from the entrance to the holding rooms had been planned out completely.

Nate kept cool in the cooling water mist fans near the entrance to Guardians.

We headed over to Hollywood Studios, it’s amazing how quickly you can move when the Skyliner is functioning. The Skyliner arrives every 5/6 seconds and there has hardly been a queue, even during peak times.

Elliott wanted to go and see The Muppets 3D while Mummy tried to get Nate on Slinky Dog (rollercoaster) which would be a challenge. We got over to Toy Story Land as the sun was setting.

Nate didn’t go on Slinky Dog but he did want to go back on the Swirling Saucers and everybody’s favourite Toy Story Mania!

We jumped on our last ride at 20:45 and managed to ride the boys favourite Toy Story Mania. We also found out about the man who has the 600,000 record. Supposedly he comes every day after work and plays the game about 25 times. He has a special pass to keep using the Lighting Lanes and must know all the secret tricks!

Our scores were good, but not record breakers.

We managed to get some photos of our outfits before we left the park. They have definitely been the most commented on outfits so far! All the credit and kudos goes to Mummy.

We got back super late 22:00 and it was all too much for the boys!

It’s our last night in the Little Mermaid suite before we upgrade to a “Deluxe” hotel, the Polynesian! We need to pack in the morning and do a bit of shopping before our room is ready. We are ready for our final week of hitting the rides and making lifelong memories!
