Walt Disney World – 8th August

Tuesday 8th August

It’s time for Disney Day 1. Animal Kingdom, let’s go!

Custom T-shirts!

So much to see and experience. First thing was getting into the park, we left slightly later than planned and arrived around 10ish. We weren’t here to see the animals, we just wanted to scope things and get the boys on a few rides.

Nate also decided he didn’t want to wear his bespoke and custom T-shirt that Mummy had created. Instead he wanted to wear his normal Nike top! Kids :)

The boys loved walking into the park and seeing our friend the “tree lady” impressive to see and not something you would expect as you just walk into the park.

Can you see our friend?

We got things off to an easy start with mini Dinosaur flyers. The boys liked the ride, we did it three times in a row. Mummy was dreaming of Space Mountain. Daddy was thinking about the insane heat we were standing in.

It needs to be said that today was very very hot. Mummy got a text from Fox News that today was a record breaker in Orlando. I’m not sure it was a record breaker but it was seriously hot, hairdryer in your face heat. The type of heat, that you run into a shop for some air conditioning heat.

Next problem was the Daddy T-shirt colour plus over 90 fahrenheit made for some interesting patterns! In this photo with Daisy Duck, Daddy is laughing as sun cream was dripping into his eye.

I can’t see
You can feel the love!

The Bugs Life show was our first test. The information board outside mentioned dark scenes and loud noises. Let’s just say after the show started Nate wanted to leave. It was either the part when giant spiders dropped from the ceiling or the random water and smoke being fired at you. Overall verdict, never coming back.

After that show, we happened on a great moment. We lined up for a photo moment with the special green Disney photographers. Mummy asked if we could take the “special” photos too, they didn’t disappoint!

One of the key differences between UK theme parks and Disney is the live music. Walking around the Animal Kingdom there was a live band playing a various points.

There were also African drum performances throughout the park and lots of crowd participation!

This guy just casually walked by…

After the drumming the heat really started to take a toll. Mummy had expertly booked Tusker House. Buffet restaurant where four of the main characters (Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy) come to your table for photos!

Goofy also wanted to take Elliott away! Daddy didn’t see any specific signs about human trafficking but you never know.

We grabbed four front seats for the final Animation Experience. Daddies university degree could finally come in handy!

We were drawing Thumper and copied an artist over the big screen. Nate decided he wanted to draw his own picture.

Mummy, Daddy and Elliott following on with the artist and tried our best!

Second and final show of the day was the 5pm Lion King Show. As the animation experience finished at 4:45 and the train back was delayed, we got to the show at about 4:58. We were sitter at the far back, but the show was awesome. The kids enjoyed the acrobats, fire juggling and the catchy songs from the film.

We headed back for another quick swim. Nate managed to injury himself again, slipping on the lifeguard steps and falling onto his chest.

Tomorrow we are going to try an early rope drop at The Magic Kingdom, the bus driver said be ready for 7am let’s see what happens.
