Quebec Canada – 7th May 2025

Day 3 – The day is known as “Mummy on the lake day” they explored and took the pedalo out for its maiden voyage.

We made our way down to the lake, just for a little look to suss out the lay of the land and when the boys saw the pedalo, they were obviously desperate to have a go!

No, not today boys, it’s getting late and I need to do dinner…Oh how can I say no those 2 sets of puppy dog eyes?!

Back to the house to grab our surf socks and shorts and back down to the pedalo again…it’s a good thing it’s only a 2 minute walk away!

Kitted up, we arrived back at the squelchy dock, ready for our first lake adventure! The edge of the lake is the extension of everyone’s gardens surrounding the lake, ending with their own dock, so I’m looking forward to sunbathing on said dock, when the sun makes a decent appearance!

Back to today, our first out on the lake and Elliott was straight in the pedalo! He dived in like a sea scout would! Oh! Wait! 🤪🥰

Mummy more or less sat and watched while the boys unclipped the yellow beast and Nate jumped on as well…Mummy then realised that she should probably be on the pedalo as well! So on she jumped and off they went!

The boys pedalled while Mummy video called Auntie Kirstin and Gagi & Daa! There was a problem though! When she hung up, she had no idea whatsoever, where the chalet was located and was trying to solve that problem, just as Ell said he wanted to go back to shore!

‘Boys, do you know where we are? Where’s the chalet?’ ‘Yeah! It’s over there!’ Elliott said, as he pointed straight at our white Air BnB, nestled between the trees!

Daddy received a call during his lunch break. We are on the lake! Come outside and see us. That tiny dot in the middle is them!

Daddy zoomed in as far as the iPhone could handle.

Mummy switched over with Ell and enjoyed a pedal back to the wooden dock, where we decided to disembark. Ell jumped off. Mummy jumped off. Nate jumped into the back. Ell jumped back on. Errrr…what?!…I thought you’d had enough?! Off they started pedalling!

No! Hang on! Wait! I grabbed the blue handle and yanked them back to shore! Where I jumped on for another ride across the lake! This time, I was pedalling and getting a good leg workout in! We finally arrived back at the shore, where the boys disembarked like pros, tied it up and were leading me back up the slope for dinner!

Another small but important feature of this property isn’t the private lake, it’s the dart board! The boys are obsessed.

It’s good for their maths right?!? But honestly it is good for maths, trying to work out how to win from 301. We played round the clock and Killer. We are looking to purchase a decent board when we get back to England. The state of the wall surrounding the dart board is another story though.

Spaghetti bolognase tonight…minus the onion…and the garlic! It’s hard cooking in a new kitchen, in a new country, when you’ve only done half a shop tired from a flight day, but at least it was still edible! Let’s hope the sun’s shining tomorrow so we can go out pedalling again!

Song of the day
