Day 4 – This episode is titled ‘Elliott Is Not Well.’ My heart breaks. Daddy goes into his room at 6am and Ell is curled up in the large bed not happy. Daddy propped him up with another pillow and headed for the bathroom.

Daddy!….Elliott’s been sick. Poor guy. Poor Daddy and (when she eventually wakes up) poor Mummy. We are not sure what happened, but only Ell was sick, and we all ate the same food last night. Thank god, we have a washing machine and tumble dryer.

We cleared up. The less details the better.

Elliott seemed better.

The cleanup ended, but provided us with another challenge. The wet toilet paper blocked the toilet. Daddy, at one point, had his arm inside the toilet, trying to nudge a mass of toilet paper.

Enter the plunger. As Mummy said, who needs the gym when you have this for a workout. After a lot of plunging, we heard some gurgling, movement and success. We didn’t want to ring our Airbnb Host on Day 4, explaining how we broke a key piece of infrastructure.

So today was a bit of a right off.

Ell just wanted to lie down and read his Kindle. Nate was bored, and Mummy was worried everyone was going to get sick. Daddy decided during his lunch break to take Nate out for some exploring.

We went down to the lake, and Nate told Daddy about the floating dock and the fish they had seen yesterday. We dodged some mud and did a wild wee near the pedalo!

We didn’t see anyone out and about, other than a few builders who are renovating one of the waterfront properties. We walked back to Lake Serenity and saw our first furry friend.

The marmot living in our rocks. He came out and immediately took off when he saw Nate running towards him.

We headed behind the property where it gets wild. No fences like UK back gardens, just trees and more trees. Boundaries seem to be set by a large amount of wood placed in a pile.

Nate took me through the pine trees which smelt amazing and showed me some of the trees that had fallen down. Some were enormous, no one is clearing them. No council, just let nature do its thing.

We found a bunch of trees that had bark peeling off and took it upon ourselves to collect that bark for our campfire when it gets warmer. We are lucky to have two built campfire pits here, once the weather improves we will be toasting an unhealthy amount of marshmallows.

Song of the day
