Mummy loves staying at Stacey and Trevor‘s, because she still gets a lie-in! On making her way to the kitchen, the children had already eaten their way through several bowls of cereal and some freshly homemade pancakes (this will be a problem if they’re expecting the same level of service on our return to England) and once Oliver and Beth had been packed off to school, we hit Kroger for a weekly grocery shop!

Once we had unpacked the shopping and made our lunches, we then jumped back in the car and drove 20 minutes to Kensington Park. What a fabulous array of wildlife there was to find! Within 10 minutes we had already seen a Redwing blackbird, a sandhill crane, a mardy looking Turkey and several interesting insects. Auntie Stacey showed the boys how to hold your hand up high and stay very still for the wild birds to come and feed from the sunflower seeds in our hands! Mummy filmed the creaking trees while we stood and waited and Elliott and Nate added to and played in the huge dens that were there.

We sat and watched a beautiful Woody woodpecker and the birds fed from Mummy & Nate‘s hands, Elliott was dismayed that he still hadn’t had the full experience, so we continued to walk and snapped a red cardinal and numerous chipmunks. Elliott finally had two birds land on his hand, one of which spent his time sneaking two seeds, which Elliott was absolutely thrilled about!

We ended the day in the park practising our monkey bar skills, which Mummy is seriously lacking in and although the day started overcast but warm, it ended in some amazing sunshine, so we had a little sunbathe and Nate pulled out his Kindle and relaxed with us! This kid is now reading mad! Who knew an old Kindle could be so transformative! In the evening we spent two hours over at the football fields for both Beth’s (Nate joined in) and Oliver‘s (Elliott was unable to join in, as Oliver’s team doesn’t allow it) soccer practice sessions…enter coach Trev. I’m not sure who enjoyed the ‘coaching session’ more?! Elliott and Nate or Trevor!
