The sun was trying really hard to shine for our big day at Camp! First stop of the day, was the ‘cafeteria’ lodge! For breakfast there were bear shaped pancakes for the kids and an array of home made buffet breakkie options! Eggs made to order, bacon, toast and bagels, fresh fruit and cereal including (that old American favourite!) Lucky Charms! Once we’d had our fill, we had to choose an area to help out in, as this was a working weekend, to prep the camp for their summer visitors.

Stacey and I chose to help in the Lodge with the stage for camp skits and 2 rooms full of mixed up sports equipment and everything else from casino night props to 20m long tarpaulins to arts and crafts supplies and everything in between! They all had a place…and place them in them, we would! 3 hours flew by as we chatted and listened to music while we enjoyed organising the lodge, which many of you know, is definitely my thing! ☺️ The boys were off for a morning of fun, with the assistant camp director and one of the counsellors, playing football, gaga ball, 4-square, roofball and some chillout colouring while they waited for us to return!

Lunch time arrived and with it, another great sandwich spread, complete with Mummy’s favourite (available in North America only it seems) crisps – Cheetos! We picked up our free Hayo-Went-Ha camp t-shirts and enjoyed having a photo with everyone in attendance, then it was off back to clear out mouse poop and organise the clothes, toiletry sets and bandanas and everything else they sell at the camp store lodge! The kiddos, however, were off to tackle the huge climbing wall!
Stacey and I finally enjoyed a break at about 5:30pm, as the sun was making an appearance, while sitting on the very cool handmade-at-camp wooden lay-back bench. It was nice to have 10 minutes to just sit and take in the view of the lake. Being glacial, the water is so clear, with sand at the bottom and I can imagine a swim during the hot summer months would be bliss! We washed up for dinner (steak and jacket potatoes) and the kids enjoyed chocolate brownie…ok, maybe we got in there too!
Ell was incredibly excited to tell us that he’d managed to reach the top of the climbing wall today and ring the bell and Nate was very pleased with himself for reaching halfway! He’ll complete it next time he comes to camp he said!

A evening drew in, we continued our conversations as we journeyed back to the lake shore to enjoy a Campfire where we would toast the colour changing marshmallows the camp had bought for the kiddos! The boys enjoyed helping to collect kindling and larger sticks and logs for the fire and see how a fire was created. A final stick collection was needed for perfect toasting implements! There were s’mores a plenty with Hershey’s chocolate and grahams crackers for all! What a great ending to a fantastic day! Bed was calling and I passed out quickly with the kids, after putting a well needed wash and dry on…we’re ready to hit Canada with clean clothes! Ooooh…the boys and Beth also picked wild spring onions…which they were very excited to talk about and informed us that Ellen the cook had said she’d used in the dinner for everyone to enjoy!
