Day 17 – Best day ever (Elliott) 101 out of 105 (Nate). There is so much deer drool in the car (Mummy) Don’t say anything to the rental car company (Daddy)
Today was all about Omega Park. It was a long-ish 1hr drive and expensive, so we were in two minds whether to go. It turned out to be (entertainment wise) the highlight of the whole trip. I don’t think we have all laughed this hard before.
The trip started with us getting lost three times, Google Maps didn’t have a clue, but we saw the same airport hangers twice in a row.
We had read on Google Reviews to buy carrots before you arrive so we took a detour to Walmart and bought 4x 3lbs bags of carrots. Editor note: This was no where near enough carrots.
There are lots of nature/safari parks in the UK, but what makes this one unique is that all kinds of deer can be fed carrots through your car! You can’t leave your car so the deer and elk need to come to you. You can imagine the mix of deer plus carrots plus excited children.
As you approach the entrance, it was like something out of Jurassic Park there were deer and elk blocking every car entrance way.
As soon as you slow down your car is engulfed like this.
If you decide to wind the window down, you’d better have carrots buddy as these guys only want that orange gold.
Nate decided from the beginning to have his window all the way down!
Mummy accidentally took a selfie instead of a regular shot and this accurately captured her mood.
Elliott wasn’t the biggest fan of the deer and elk and kept his window completely shut for most of the time.
The only video we have is when all the windows accidentally went down at once.
We tried our best to edge away from the entrance but we went through so many carrots that the advice to snap them in half was something we should have followed.
As you snake around the park you run into more deer and elk and lots of pigs. All wanting that sweet carrot.
At this point the amount of deer saliva on the windows was reaching peak levels.
There were other animals in the park outside of the deer and elk. We saw moose, bison, bears and wolves.
The low points were the wolves, bears and moose were fenced in. The park is so large that we felt it was a bit unfair to have them in such small sections. We saw wolves and bears wild in Yellowstone and the Smokey Mountains so that took the edge off seeing these amazing animals.
We ate some lunch in the car park that bordered the gift shop, it wasn’t until we rejoined the trail that we realized that there were four more large carparks that you could park in. Coming on a random Wednesday has its positives. Home school all the way!
We also decided that as the tickets were so expensive we could do another whole loop of the park for the same price.
We had a team meeting and decided to load up another two huge bags of carrots and ended up spending a total of about £30 on carrots today.
Round 2 – More of the same, but this time with a deer that had so much drool it glistened and fell onto Mummy. She tried to wipe the drool with the carrot bag.

We finally got in the right direction of the Sortie (Exit) everything was covered in deer drool and everything needed to be washed.
We came back and decided that the only thing to do was (let Daddy rest after the 1hr 20 drive) was another fire pit!
Today has been one of the highlights of the trip, I’m so glad we went and enjoyed ourselves so much. Memories have been made!
Tomorrow is the boys Yes day! We have no idea what has been planned but they need to submit final details by tomorrow morning. Let’s wait and see what they come up with!
