Day 18 – It’s the Yes Day. Parents must say Yes all day long. Are we crazy? Will the boys just decide to eat ice cream all day? Let’s see.

Daddy was woken up at 06:32 by Elliott poking him in the face saying that Daddy had overslept and should be downstairs at 06:30. Somehow Mummy didn’t get included in this rule and slept in to the usual 9am-ish.

After we played a ton of darts and had pop tarts for breakfast (remember the Yes day rules) even if we have to say Yes through gritted teeth. We got ready for our first activity.

The boys decided as it was hammering down with rain the best thing we should do was to play outdoors mini golf.

It was an interesting place it’s called Restaurant Mini Golf, imagine a builders greasy spoon cafe with a mini golf course tacked onto the back. When we arrived they were taking a dairy delivery through the door where the putters were kept.
We were the only ones there at 10:30am and paid our money (cash only so either a drug cartel or something else). The theming was cartoon characters and started really well, this giant Thomas the Tank engine looked very impressive.

Nate decided today was the day to show he is now a golfing prodigy.

Then it was Elliott’s turn.

The theming started to change we had bicycles, giant Buddha heads mixed with Super Mario goombas.

We now have Nate’s second hole in one.

The themed artwork started to get rougher and rougher the further we went around the course. By the time we got to hole 16 it looked like they had roped in the cooks cousin to finish the Disney ones.

Mickey looking quite ill.

Culminating in Ariel from the Little Mermaid who looked very worse for wear.

We finished up the course with Nate completing a record 3x hole in one’s.
But overall, slow and steady wins the race. Daddy with 43 for the win. We handed back over the clubs and went through a steel framed door covered in tarpaulin into the restaurant.

The folks in the restaurant started with an elderly couple having a tea and coffee, but soon morphed into workmen ordering hamburger and chips for lunch, men with multiple children ordering takeaway sandwich’s and an NCT type women’s group of seven women who all turned up and stood by the counter chatting.
One ordered poutine, a hot dog with a side of coleslaw and a can of sprite like that’s a normal order for a Thursday afternoon. Daddy ordered a coffee which was god awful and the boys (as it’s Yes day) settled for a side bowl of fries (chips) that looked like they had been cooking in oil since the financial crash of 2008.
The payment was cash only but there was a cash machine right next to the bar, so every time a noob like Daddy arrived the lady just pointed at the machine when you need to pay! After all this Mummy wanted to leave, so we went shopping for the boys lunch of pizza and garlic bread.

Yes Day purchases:
- Garlic bread
- Pizza
- Kinder eggs
- Hot wheels cars
- Milk
- Apple turnovers (Mummy and not technically part of the Yes day but we let that one slide)

As the weather has been awful today the boys couldn’t do the pedalo or a fire pit so we watched a few Disney films and played more darts. Elliott even hit double 11 to win a game of 301 against Daddy.

We ended by playing Mummy’s favourite Monopoly but using ChatGPT to give us chaos rules to make the game more interesting.
Roll a 6 with two dice? Steal a property. Roll a 3 with two dice? Take a property from the bank. All rent is 5x and earthquakes can happen and they will destroy houses and hotels.
I can’t believe I’m writing this, but tomorrow is our last full day in Canada 😢 we head back late on Saturday night, so we need to enjoy as much as possible tomorrow before we get to see everyone we love again in England!
